Hello Boobies!

YES! that is what i'm calling all you fantastic people out there.... BOOBIES! Not Noobies, but Boobies!

Now I hope you've been doing good. Because I have been doing great! I've been listening back to a lot of stuff i've accumulated in my mp3 library... and re-discovered this band called 58.

Now this was a side project of Nikki Sixx's which was extremely short lived. Not sure how well it did commercially, might not have been that great i think. BUT it wasn't really a commercial band.  In fact... if memory serves me right, 58 was suppose to be a one off side project, and they're weren't even gonna play live. But apparently, they did do a few shows due to demand from fans.

58 was also an attempt at marketing music purely via the internet. Which in recent years should've done wonders for them, but back in good ol' 1999 and Y2k, I guess most of us were worried about our computers crashing at the stroke of midnight and losing all of our downloaded pornography.

Anyhooo...

Perhaps 58 was ahead of their time ... even their music was pretty different at the time. And even till now, its sometimes difficult to believe that Nikki Sixx was involved in this project. However, if you've heard Motley Crue and Sixx: A.M. , 58 will be a nice twist to add to your library.

On to the album, Diet For A New America.

Its filled with sleaze, angst, political rage, depression, dark wit and so much more. With subjects matter which reflect a society of people living off the streets and doing what they have to do to get by.  From homeless people commiting suicide to a girl who puts up a webcam and starts a voyeur site only to get into trouble later on.

Musically, this album has alot to offer a person with an open mind. If you're looking for it to brighten up your day, well, expect some clouds. Its basically a safe journey into a dark and twisted world that 58 has created with Diet For A New America, too dark to be reality??? maybe not.

It IS a colour full album, with tracks that make you feel like your drunk and on ecstasy at the same time like "Alone Again". Then you've got mind-fuck ghetto tracks like "Killing Joke" . Then there's the phat and sleazy "Piece of Candy" with a lazy rap tinge to it. A couple other favourites of mine from this album would be "Shopping Cart Jesus" and "Queer".

Alright, that's it for this post. There are links all over the place, and they mostly lead you to either where more information can be found about the particular word/topic, and some take you to places where u can hear the songs.

Unfortunately, 58 never made a music video.  However, there are some fan vids out there showing them as Sixx: A.M. ... Song titles are right, band name's wrong. but don't worry. just listen to the tracks and refer back to this post if you ever feel confused.

If you've got questions, just drop a comment or send an e-mail.

So now i leave you with "Piece of Candy" by 58, from the album Diet Of A New America.
